Joanne & Gib Simpson, Administrators of Shadow of His Wings
To participate in the rescue and recovery of a child who has experienced more than what most of us can begin to imagine, is privilege beyond description. These girls are worthy of our every ounce of attention, love, and care,” says, Joanne Simpson, Administrator.

Carroll Bishop,Site Director of Shadow of His Wings
SOHW is a Home for needy girls located in Monjas Jalapa, Guatemala. As the site director she works closely with all of the girls and the house parents on a daily basis. Her ministry is to the girls that the court places into their care. She schedules and coordinates all house parents and is
Joanne and Gib, along with Carroll founded James Project of Latin America in 2002. The project has an orphanage for girls, a school for the children, The vision includes enough homes for 100 girls, a boys home, a school built on the property, a clinic available for the community, a home for older widows, a transition home for the older girls in preparation for adulthood, and a baby’s home. At the present time Liberty Christian school is in a rented building of Monjas. With this Christian education the girls are provided a strong basis on what it means to be a Christian citizen of Guatemala and how that works with the plans God has for them.
This is an ongoing project with many phases. In 2006 another 7 acres was purchased next to the 9.44 acres of the girl’s home to build the future boy’s home. One duplex was completed in 2006, which houses 24 plus girls. A second duplex for another 24 girls was finished in February 2007. Each side has space for 12 girls with house parents to create a family atmosphere. Children are usually sent by the Guatemalan children’s court bringing many needs with them. It isn’t long until they find a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that they can find hope and restoration for their torn lives. With quality education they can be better prepared for the adult world.
A history of this project can be found at their website, click HERE to check it out.
